1. Baguettes (a.k.a long, skinny rolls of French bread)
-Sold like "Ghana bread" from bowls on top of women's heads, but these come with various spreads such as mayo, tuna, liver, eggs, tomatoes, avacado and lettuce and onion and tomato and oil and salt, and...
2. REAL Cheese (NOT laughing cow cheese)
-Affordable block cheese, a.k.a does not spread
-Found in delis accompanied with salami, ham and Persian pickles
3. Cigarettes
-Smoked not only by the European tourists but the Togolese themselves
4.Free Love
-Couples openly express themselves through "French kissing" in public (and perhaps rolling around together in the sand)
5. Motorbikes
-Who needs large taxis when you can strattle a Togolese man on the back of his bike?
-No helmet, wind cooling you off, scenic view all around
[WATCH OUT FOR THE EXHAUST PIPES ON THE RIGHT SIDE...THEY BURN!]
6. Street Clean Up Crew
-With a city practically completely paved, not to mention lit up by rows of street lamps on PAVED sidewalks, the need for sand sweeping and trash collection enhanced the city's appealing vibes
7. MULTIPLE Tash Cans
-Almost every few meters one will come across a trash can...No need to throw rubbish out the window or into the gutters (*cough*Ghanaians) when you can walk to a designated trash can
8. Underground Sewage/Gutters
-Not once will you have to look down when crossing the street because 5 foot deep gutters do not line the streets
-Less distasteful smells surround you while walking around
9. Architecture
-Beautifully structured buildings throughout Lome
-Modern, complex, well-lit
10. The Language French
-Everyone speaks French!
-Unlike Ghana, where most people speak their native language, most Togolese speck French and some of this African tongue
-Apparently France's colonization approach of direct rule influenced the country to eat like the French, smoke like the French, clean like the French, live like the French and speak like the French in order to be French.
(Not to mention the country Togo still faces Neocolonization...)
